About Socotra Island
Socotra Island is located in the Arabian Sea, northwest of the Indian Ocean, 340 km southeast of Yemen. Its area is approximately 3,600 km², making it the largest island among the group of islands extending east of Africa Horn, which together is known as the Socotra Archipelago, consisting of four islands. Hadiboh is the capital and largest city of Socotra Island.

The Socotra Archipelago boasts a unique botanical diversity, with approximately 850 recorded rare plant species, 750 of which are endemic. There are also many medicinal plants, such as bitter Socotra aloe vera, dragon's blood, geranium, euphorbia, and moringa trees, of which there are 25 species worldwide, nine of them are found in Socotra. The Amat tree is also widespread, along with palm trees. The Socotra Archipelago is considered of global importance due to its biodiversity, represented by rare plants and animals. Approximately 37% of its plant species are found nowhere else in the world, as is the case for reptiles and 95% of its land snails. There are also many medicinal plants, such as bitter Socotra aloe vera, dragon's blood, geranium, euphorbia, and moringa trees, of which there are 25 species worldwide, nine of which are found on Socotra.
